The Dope On Milk.

Milk comes from a Greiving Mother
“After repeated cycles of forced impregnations, painful births, relentless milkings, and crushing bereavements, their spirit gives, their bodies wither, their milk dries up. At the age when, in nature, a female cow would barely enter adulthood, the life of a dairy cow is over. When her milk ‘production’ declines, she and her other ‘spent’ herd mates are trucked off to slaughter. Some are pregnant. All are still lactating. As they are shoved towards death, they drip milk onto the killing floor… All dairy operations, including Organic, exist solely by doing to millions of defenseless females the worst thing anyone can do to a mother. Dairy consumers support this practice with their purchases.”

“Milk Comes from a Grieving Mother” ~ leaflet by Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary

When visiting the non-vegan home of a self-proclaimed feminist, she offered me cow’s milk with my tea. That’s when I made the profound connection that it’s impossible to truly be a feminist while consuming dairy (or any animal products), as the entire animal industry is built on the exploitation of the female reproductive system. This must be recognized as a feminist issue because it is analogous to the feminist movement’s struggle for women to have control of their own bodies.

Animals of both sexes suffer under institutionalized exploitation. However, the female of the species often experiences more prolonged abuse, including an ongoing cycle of forceful artificial insemination (mechanical or manual rape), physical abuse of her mammary glands, and invariably being separated from her young; all of these are emotionally brutal experiences for the female members of any species.

(Male animals are also sexually abused; not only through the industry practice of castration, but also by being used as semen ‘donors’. There are photos online showing bulls in contraptions being forced to supply the ‘artificial insemination’ industry. All of this is a part of dairy consumption. It’s pretty perverted; as is all animal use – when you think about it candidly.)

Insemination Kit To Make Your Milk VS. Dairy Is Natural

Veganlante - The Deception of Dairy - Rape

The animal farming industry has done quite a job of advertising images of ‘happy cows‘ gladly giving us their milk, as well as covering up their offensive procedures. However, even if all the heartless practices associated with factory farming were not customary, it is deeply troubling that the female reproductive system of any species is widely perceived as nothing more than an economic resource.

Many in the feminist movement might be interested to learn that some in the animal industry actually use the term ‘rape-rack’ to describe the piece of equipment used to restrain and artificially inseminate cows and pigs. Even on many small-scale farms though, inseminators invade the animal’s body by putting their arm up her rectum, to push on the cervix, while inseminating her with the other hand. Inconceivably to me, even women perform this job.

Ben and Jerry's 'Happy Cows' Advertising VS. Reality of Milk and The Dairy Industry

I often ponder in disbelief our culture’s uncivilized ways and what people choose to fund with their purchases. It’s hard to imagine a human being taking a crying baby from his mother shortly after birth, to have his throat slit. However, this is the fate of calves born to cows used for dairy production. ‘Bobby calves’, the unwanted male calves who are an unavoidable by-product of the dairy industry, are generally taken away soon after birth (both on organic and non-organic farms), and are frequently sold to be turned into ‘veal’. In some countries, male calves are shot at birth.

Both mother and calf are traumatized and bellow loudly after their forced separation, and some mothers even try to get in between farmer and calf. In one astonishing story, an unsuspecting veterinarian discovered a mother cow’s remarkable attempt to hide one of her calves in an attempt to save him.

Because she is re-impregnated every year, while still lactating from the previous pregnancy, a ‘dairy cow’ will spend six to seven months a year producing milk while she is also pregnant. This is true on organic and free-range farms as well. A calf would naturally feed five to six times a day, so that the maximum amount of milk in his mother’s udder would be around two liters at any one time. But on modern dairy farms, a cow is only milked twice a day, allowing milk to accumulate in the udder; thus forcing her to carry around 20 liters of milk or more. This greatly enlarged udder leads to lameness in her hind legs and predisposes her to mastitis (a painful udder infection). Her only rest from this appalling existence is during the last two months of her pregnancy when she is not milked in preparation for giving birth. Then the awful cycle starts again.

Hobbles and shackles are commonly attached to the hind legs of cows who have suffered damage during ‘calving’, and would not be able to stand of their own accord. Injured cows are often forced to continue in pain, for seven to eight months, until their milk yield drops (so the farmer won’t lose a large quantity of milk) and then they are killed. Seeing photos of these shackles online conjures up images of slavery and shines a light on the very real fact that bred and farmed animals ARE slaves; owned by human ‘masters’ and treated as if they were lifeless objects.

Downed Cow - Consequence of Treating Cows Like Objects for Milk and Profit

The ‘dairy cow’, riddled with painful ailments as a result of her exploitation, and physically ravaged from the sexual abuse she has experienced, is eventually killed to be eaten when she is no longer producing; typically at around five years of her otherwise 20-25 year lifespan.

It’s unjust for humans to steal milk that was designed by nature to nourish growing babies of another species. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why anybody would want to drink cow’s milk; perfectly designed for baby calves. Cow’s milk provides the calf with the nutrients to grow to 450 pounds, in just a year. A cow’s breast milk is much higher in protein than the requirements for humans and provides everything calves need for rapid growth. How could anything that was not meant for us by nature, and is so disrespectful to other animals, possibly be healthful for humans?

Humans have no physical need to consume products that are the result of horrific practices such as tail docking, dehorning, branding, castration, rape racks, induced calving, artificial insemination, painful procedures performed without pain relief, embryo transfers and hormone treatments resulting in 3-6 calves instead of the usual single birth, separation of mother from newborn, and killing infants.

It is becoming increasingly clear that there is perhaps even more suffering involved in milkcheese and egg consumption than flesh consumption, therefore choosing to be vegetarian (for ethical reasons) is not logicalAbstaining from ALL animal products is the ethical stance that gives basic minimal respect due to sentient beings.

Oppression is oppression. Violence is violence. The species of the victim is irrelevant. The way I see it, to be an animal rights activist is to be a vegan. To be an abolitionist is to be a vegan. To be a nonspeciesist is to be a vegan. To be an environmentalist is to be a vegan. To be a peace-loving-pacifist is to be a vegan. To be an ethicist is to be a vegan. AND YES - to be a feminist is to be a vegan.

….If your one of those people that has to see it, to believe it….

Drinking Milk From Cows Is Weird and Ignorant -Dairy

Health Implications of Consuming Dairy Products:

 The Truth About Calcium and Osteoporosis

By John Robbins, author of 'Diet for a New America'

25% of sixty-five year old women in the United States are diagnosed with osteoporosis. For a person technically to qualify for this label, it means she has lost 50- 75% of the original bone material from her skeleton. That is 1 out of every 4 women of sixty-five years old has lost over half her bone density! Today, more deaths are caused by osteoporosis than cancer of the breast and cervix combined.

Unfortunately, the loss of calcium and other minerals from the bones is a gradual process which goes on steadily for a long time before it becomes evident. There is no flashing red light to warn us that our bodies are losing calcium. And it is usually not apparent until loose teeth, receding gums, or a fractured hip show how brittle and chalky the bones have become. The end result of the skeletal structure’s gradual erosion is calcium-deficient bones that may break with the slightest provocation. Even a mere sneeze may crack a rib.
“I would like to emphasize that the calcium-losing effect of protein on the human body is not an area of controversy in scientific circles. The many studies performed during the past 55 years consistently show that the most important dietary change that we can make if we want to create a positive calcium balance that will keep our bones solid is to decrease the amount of proteins we eat each day. The important change is not to increase the amount of calcium we take in.” – Dr. John McDougall

Osteoporosis Around the World

Throughout the world, the incidence of osteoporosis correlates directly with animal protein intake. The greater the intake of protein, the more common and more severe will be the osteoporosis. In fact, world health statistics show that osteoporosis is most common in exactly those countries where dairy products are consumed in the largest quantities – the United States, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Nathan Pritikin studied the medical research on osteoporosis, and found no basis at all for the Dairy Council viewpoint:

African Bantu women take in only 350 mg. of calcium per day. They bear nine children during their lifetime and breast feed them for two years. They never have calcium deficiency, seldom break a bone, rarely lose a tooth… How can they do that on 350 mg. of calcium a day when the (National Dairy Council) recommendation is 1200 mg.? It’s very simple. They’re on a low-protein diet that doesn’t kick the calcium out of the body’.

At the other end of the scale from the Bantus are the native Eskimos.

If osteoporosis were a calcium deficiency disease it would be unheard of among these people. They have the highest dietary calcium intake of any people in the world – more than 2000 mg. a day from fish bones. Their diet is also the very highest in the world in protein – 250 to 400 grams a day. The native Eskimo people have one of the very highest rates of osteoporosis in the world.

Keeping our PH- levels in check

Keeping our blood at an essentially neutral pH is top priority for our body. If our blood were to become too acidic we would die. Accordingly, if the diet contains a lot of acid forming foods (meat, dairy, sugar and processed carbohydrates), then the body, in its wisdom, withdraws calcium from the bones and uses this alkaline mineral to balance the pH of the blood. Meat, eggs and fish are the most acid-forming of the foods, and hence the ones that cause calcium to be drawn from the bones to restore the pH balance. Most fruits and vegetables, on the other hand, generally yield an alkaline ash, and so require no depletion of calcium stores from the bones to maintain the neutrality of the blood.

In spite of its high calcium content, milk, due to its high protein content, and high acidity, appears actually to contribute to the accelerating development of osteoporosis. The occurrence of this disease in the United States has reached truly epidemic proportions, and the promotion of dairy products as an ‘answer’ to the suffering of millions seems, not only self-serving, but absolutely immoral and downright dishonest.

WHAT’S IN YOUR MILK?

By Samuel S. Epstein M.D. with introduction by Ben Cohen, Co-Founder, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream President, Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities, and Jeffrey Smith, International bestselling author Seeds of Deception, 2006

An Expose of Industry and Government Cover-Up on the DANGERS of the Genetically Engineered (rBGH) Milk You’re Drinking

rBGH (recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone) is a genetically engineered, potent variant of the natural growth hormone produced by cows. Manufactured by Monsanto, it is sold to dairy farmers under the trade name POSILAC. Injection of this hormone forces cows to increase their milk production by about 10% and makes them sick.

The facts show that consumers and their children, especially those in the Public School Lunch Program, are at increased risk of cancer. Ignoring this, Monsanto and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) nevertheless insist that rBGH milk is safe and indistinguishable from natural organic milk. This is blatantly false.

What the Food Industry and the Government don’t Want You to Know rBGH Milk is:
  • Unnatural, contaminated by pus and antibiotics
  • Supercharged with excess levels of growth stimulant readily absorbed from milk
  • Dangerous because high levels of the growth stimulant increase risks of breast, colon, and prostate cancers
  • Profitable to Monsanto while posing dangers, with no benefits, to consumers

In Western societies, we’re told that calcium is the answer to preventing bone loss. However, it’s not a lack of calcium that causes osteoporosis. Excessive intake of animal-based protein (which is always acidic) and a lack of exercise, magnesium and vitamin D cause osteoporosis. The Lancet, The U.S. Department of Health, and Harvard University call the link between meat and dairy based diets and osteoporosis “INESCAPABLE”. Tobacco, salt and caffeine contribute to bone loss as well.

Animal protein contributes to the acceleration of osteoporosis because keeping blood at a neutral Ph balance always takes priority over keeping calcium-phosphate in the bones. Bones can hold out for years with insufficient calcium, but blood cannot because it needs phosphate to offset the acidity.
When blood becomes acidic with animal protein, the body withdraws calcium-phosphate from the bones and uses the alkaline mineral phosphate to keep the blood’s Ph level balanced. The calcium is then excreted through our urine. Animal products are the only sources of acidic protein. Plant protein is not acidic.

People who consume the least amount of animal protein, always have the lowest rates of osteoporosis, bone fractures and cancers because of their non-acidic protein diets. Cancer can only thrive in an acidic environment. Here are some studies that discuss the negative impact of animal proteinhttp://notmilk.com/o.html and www.thechinastudy.com/la-timesarticle.html.

Freelee, the raw fit bitch rants about the irony of dairy consumption.

Dairy will give you acne, sinus problems, make you fat, lethargic and leads to various diseases. If you eat dairy that is raw and organic there are still over 80 active hormones which are toxic to humans, not to mention the following
* Insulin Growth Factor 1 - IGF-1 - multiplies cancer cells rapidly
* Casein
* Oestrogen
* Lactase
* Millions of Pus cells
* Pathogenic bacteria
* Uric Acid
* Cholesterol
* Adrenaline
* Parasites
* Addictive casomorphins

I'm here to help folks, when I got off the dairy I felt like a NEW PERSON.
